Narita Drum Festival

Narita Temple (known as Narita San in Japan).

Japanese drummers on the steps of Narita San.

This huge drum was only on a cart so the ppl in front of it had to keep it moving slow so it didnt terrorize the steep, narrow streets of narita. At a store in this street we saw a man gutting and slicing live eels to have with rice. Delicious.

Hordes of drummers walked down the main drag in narita dancing and posing for photos. There were a few white guys in the parade but they just looked like hippies lookin for an excuse to bang drums! Damn tree huggers!

All the roads were closed in Narita and not all drummers were part of the parade. These guys set up camp at an intersection and banged their hearts out!

Yes, thats right...its fosters. In the middle of the festival a little man on the side of the street was selling bottles of fosters out of an ice filled bin for 100yen ($1.20). Couldnt pass up the opportunity and this photo soon followed. The chick next to me is Lisa, a Canadian chick who lives in my apartment and also teaches English.
